For over 400 years, the Yolngu people of East Arnhem Land engaged in trade with the Makassan people of Indonesia, exchanging goods for Trepang, a type of sea slug. This trade not only facilitated economic exchange but also led to intermarriage and cultural exchange. This connection was severed by the implementation of the White Australia Policy in 1907.
In an effort to rekindle their shared history and cultural ties, three artists from each country embark on an exchange program, journeying to Makassar and East Arnhem Land to explore their interconnected heritage through art.
